Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of the Allied Springfield Concrete Construction website and any concrete work you hire us to do. Using this site, asking for an estimate or booking a job means you agree to them, so please read them before you go ahead.
If you'd like to know more about us first, start on our home page or read about our company. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you sign, because we'd rather answer a question up front than sort out a misunderstanding after the pour.
What we do
Allied Springfield Concrete Construction is a concrete contractor in Springfield, IL. We build driveways, patios, sidewalks, steps, garage floors, foundations, retaining walls and other flatwork, which means the flat slabs around your house, for homes and businesses in Springfield and the cities around it.
What you read on this website is general information about our services and the trade. It isn't a quote or a promise about your job, because every site has its own soil, drainage and access. The details of your job are set in your written estimate or contract.
Estimates and pricing
We give free in-person estimates with no obligation, because we need to see the slope, the soil and the access before we can price the work fairly. An estimate covers the work described in it and is based on what we can see on the day we visit.
Some things only show up once the old concrete is out or the digging starts, like soft or wet subgrade, which is the ground the slab sits on, buried debris, roots or old footings. If we find something that changes the work or the price, we'll stop and talk it through with you, and we won't do extra work without your approval.
An estimate stays good for the period written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we may need to update the price before we schedule the job.
Scheduling, weather and cancellation
We'll give you a start date when you book, but concrete depends on the weather. If rain, freezing temperatures or extreme heat would hurt the finished slab, we'll move the pour to the next good day, because a slab poured in bad conditions can come out weak or crumbly on top. A weather delay isn't a breach of our agreement.
Please keep the work area clear and let us know about anything underground on your property that public utility marking won't catch, such as sprinkler lines, invisible pet fences, private gas or electric lines and septic parts. We aren't responsible for damage to private lines we weren't told about.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call us at (217) 210-0810 as early as you can. If we've already ordered materials, set forms or booked a concrete delivery for your job, you may be charged for those costs, as your written agreement explains.
Payment
Your written estimate or contract lists the price, any deposit and when each payment is due. Unless it says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is finished.
If a payment is late, we may pause the work until it's paid. You're also responsible for reasonable collection costs if an unpaid balance has to be collected, to the extent Illinois law allows.
Caring for new concrete
New concrete needs time to cure, which is the wait while it hardens and gains strength before it's ready for use. We'll tell you when it's safe to walk on and when it's safe to drive on, and damage from using it sooner isn't covered.
After we leave, the slab's care is in your hands. Damage from de-icing salts, heavy equipment or loads beyond what the slab was built for, chemicals, poor drainage you change later, or ground movement after we finish isn't our responsibility.
Cracks, color and warranty limits
Concrete shrinks as it cures and moves with freezing and thawing, so some cracking is normal even on a well-built slab. We cut control joints, which are planned grooves that give the slab a place to crack in a straight line, but we can't promise a slab will never crack. Small hairline cracks that don't affect how the slab works aren't a defect.
Concrete is a natural material, so color, texture and finish will vary somewhat from slab to slab and from any sample or photo, including on stamped and colored work. New concrete next to old concrete won't match exactly.
Any written warranty on your job is stated in your contract, and it covers only what it names. Outside of that and what Illinois law requires, we give no other warranties, written or implied, including any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose.
Limits on our liability
We carry insurance and we take responsibility for our own workmanship. Our total liability for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.
We aren't liable for indirect or follow-on losses, such as lost use of your driveway, lost income or the cost of other projects, to the extent the law allows. We also aren't responsible for problems caused by conditions we couldn't reasonably see before the work, by work done by others or by events outside our control.
If something goes wrong
If you're unhappy with any part of our work, call us first at (217) 210-0810 or reach us through our contact page. Most problems are settled with a site visit and a straight conversation, and we'll respond within one business day.
If we can't settle it between us, we both agree to try in good faith to reach an agreement before going to court. Any lawsuit about our work or these terms will be filed in the state or federal courts that serve Springfield, Illinois.
Which law applies
These terms and any work we do are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the version on this page is the current one. A change won't affect a job already under a signed contract unless we both agree to it in writing.
If your written contract and these terms say different things, your contract wins. Questions about these terms can go to us through our contact page.
